About
My background is in film direction, production and writing. I have made numerous short films, including one submitted for my Masters at UTS, for which I received a High Distinction and a commendation award for my direction. I also wrote and directed a Tropfest film for last year, shot it in one day and then edited, with original music, ready for submission 5 days later. The project cost $200. It didn’t make it to the final but I was very pleased with the results with great performances by some very talented actors, including Virginia Gay (All Saints). Recently, I have completed co-writing my first feature film script.
I am a hands-on person and with a diverse skill set, including producing call sheets and running budgets, shooting, directing, assistant-directing and editing. I am highly organised and understand the need to get things done to budget and to deadline.
As well as writing the aforementioned feature film last year, I also helped produce a contemporary dance video that screened at the Reeldance festival in Adelaide. The video involved a first-time director but I had a very small crew of people I knew and trusted and she had a very talented dance couple so we were able to get a real intimacy in the film. I had also worked with the band Coda for another short-film I produced and was able to work with one of the band members again to get some fantastic music.
Last year I worked with a producer, Karin Fitzhardinge (Series Producer for Australia Wide on ABC2 and Director of High 5) producing the online program, Opinionate. It is a relaxed comedy-infused opinion based show. The program had a limited budget, therefore we shot and edited everything ourselves. Our host was up and coming comedian Ryan Coffey, finalist in last year’s RAW comedy festival, and our guest panellists included Lisa Pryor (SMH Opinion page Editor), Tommy Murphy (Playwright ‘Saturn’s Return’) and ABC’s Good Game host Jeremy Ray.
